BUTLINS CLACTON 1970

HOME-MOVIE

Here is some wonderful home-movie footage, shot by a camper at Butlins Clacton in 1970, and kindly posted by "Cinebolex" on YouTube.

The first 3 minutes are mainly concentrating on the activities of the little boy from the family who took the footage; but then, for the last 54 seconds, we get to see more of the general activities on the Entertainment Programme, such as the Swimming Gala in the outdoor L-shaped pool, and the Children's Sports Day.
At 3' 10" we get our first glimpse of Uncle Ray (King), interviewing some kids in the ballroom. Ray appears again at 3' 30", on his high bike.
Keep the sound on, as you will hear the whirring and clicking of the 8mm film as it threads its way through the projector. (That's not something you hear on DVD soundtracks, is it!)

[The quality is good enough for you to switch to "full screen" when viewing.]
