They All Began at Butlins

forthcoming book, by author A.J Marriot

Do you want to be featured in this forthcoming book? - then read on:

Whenever Butlins Redcoats are mentioned, most people can name five or six who went on to become household names, but there are many many more who went on to become professional entertainers, and it is their stories we are about to feature in the forthcoming book.

They All Began at Butlins

Below are examples of former Redcoats who went on to have careers in show business.

A.J Marriot
My name is “A.J” Marriot. I was a Butlins Redcoat Entertainer for the 1973 and 1974 seasons. When I left Butlins in November 1974 I had around 3 hours of polished comedy material. Just 7 months later I turned full-time professional, and went on to have a twenty-one-year career in in stand-up – all thanks to my apprenticeship at Butlins.

Wanna be in the book: “They All Began at Butlins”?

Did you start off on a Butlins’ Entertainment team, then go on to be a professional stage performer? If so, you could be featured in this forthcoming book. Stories must be original, and not copied from other websites — although leniency will be given to those who wrote the article in the first place.

To get yourself featured in the book, put together a package of your best Butlins photos, plus your show business scrapbook entries and accompanying text. Photographs need to be of printable quality, preferably 300dpi, with as much information as possible: i.e. venue, date, event, people in photo.

Try to add interesting comments. i.e. Don’t just say things like: “That's me 4th from left,” or “This is me doing the Fancy Dress Competition.”

Now email “A.J” Marriot at 'Redcoats Reunited' by clicking on the envelope icon below, and type “I BEGAN AT BUTLINS” in the subject box. All applications will be given the fullest consideration.

If your material isn't featured in the book, we may post it on the Redcoats Reunited website, where it will have maximum exposure, and could well attract some of your long-lost working colleagues.

I look forward to sharing your memories of those long-gone amazing holiday times.

Happy Daze!

“A.J” Marriot
